Cape Cod Visit
We’ve just returned from a blissful (sans children) week in Cape Cod. Keith was there on business and I was along for the ride. We stayed in Buzzard’s Bay, so named because the early settlers mistook the larger sea birds for buzzards. Its funny to think your town was named by mistake
Every day we went to the beautiful beaches in the area, which looked to be ideal for sea glass collecting, with good surf and lots of little pebbles at the shoreline. But nothing. We found a few pieces of white, green and brown, most with chips, definitely not jewelry grade. I don’t know if the beaches are so well scavenged that the glass is all picked up, or if there just isn’t any. But is was a pleasure to look anyway, and we found lots of beautiful pebbles that will be making their way into our designs.
My other favourite things about Cape Cod? The food was out of this world, wonderful fresh seafood. We had a curried seafood stew at The Beehive Tavern that I’m still thinking about. And the antiques! So many beautiful antique stores. I picked up a gorgeous old hatbox from New York for my studio, great for storage, and a red pottery vase, hadcrafted by a local potter in 1961. And lots of other beautiful and quirky things to help us remember our trip.
I’m sad that its over, but it is good to be home, and it will be good to be back in the studio this week. Have a great week everyone!
